SNOWBALL

Adoption Status: Adoption Pending

Adoption fee: $500

Gender: Male Breed: Shihtzu/Bichon Age: 12 Weeks Weight: 4 lbs

Dog Friendly: Yes Cat Friendly: Yes Kid Friendly: Yes

House Trained: Work in Progress

History: Breeder Release

From The Foster: Snowball is a 12-week-old Shih Tzu/Bichon mix who is ready to find his forever home. This sweet little guy was released from his breeder simply because he was considered “too old” for puppy stores — but we think that just makes him perfectly ready to start his real life with a loving family.

Snowball is as soft and cuddly as his name suggests. He absolutely loves to snuggle and would much rather be curled up in your lap than causing any trouble. He has a calm, easygoing personality and takes life at his own relaxed pace. While he may not be the most academically gifted pup in the class just yet, he makes up for it with his gentle nature and laid-back charm. He’s the kind of dog who just wants to be near his people and soak up affection.

At 12 weeks old, Snowball is still a baby and will need continued help with potty training, basic manners, and socialization — but with patience and love, he’ll blossom into a wonderful companion. His chill temperament makes him a great match for a variety of homes, whether you’re a first-time dog owner or simply looking for a devoted little shadow to follow you around.

Gender: Male Breed: Shihtzu/Bichon Age: 12 Weeks Weight: 4 lbs

Dog Friendly: Yes Cat Friendly: Yes Kid Friendly: Yes

House Trained: Work in Progress

History: Breeder Release

From The Foster: Coffee is a 12-week-old Shih Tzu/Bichon mix who was released from his breeder simply because he was considered “too old” for puppy stores — but at just 12 weeks, he’s the perfect age to start bonding with his new people and learning what home life is all about.

This little guy is pure sweetness. Coffee is incredibly snuggly and happiest when he’s close to his humans. He has a laid-back, easygoing personality and takes everything in stride. While he may not be the top of his obedience class just yet, he more than makes up for it with his loving heart and go-with-the-flow attitude. He’s the kind of pup who’s happy to tag along for whatever you’re doing — whether that’s a short walk, a car ride, or curling up on the couch for movie night.

Coffee is still a baby and will need continued work on potty training, basic manners, and socialization. With patience, consistency, and lots of positive reinforcement, he’ll continue to grow into a wonderful lifelong companion. His chill and happy nature makes him a great fit for many types of homes, including first-time dog owners ready to guide him as he learns.

MARTHA

Adoption fee: $375

Gender: Female Breed: Maltese Mix Age: 7 Years Weight: 15 lbs

Dog Friendly: Yes Cat Friendly: Yes Kid Friendly: Quiet Ones

House Trained: 95%

History: Breeder Release

From The Foster: When we started fostering her about 2 months ago she was terrified and shut down. She had no trust for us people, but she loved all the other dogs, especially our slightly demented and sedentary elder dog. Since then she's made slow but noticeable progress toward socialization. She still runs away if we come towards her, and she still hides under furniture, but more out of habit than panic.

She has mostly learned to go potty outside, though not how to tell us, so she has very rare accidents. She will go past us to go outside (we used to have to cross the room).

She interacts with humans in positive ways now. If a hand is held out she will walk over and sniff. She will watch us rather than avoiding looking at us. If forced, she will allow herself to be picked up and gently handled.

She will now tolerate bathing and grooming.

She dances for her supper, rolls around on the floor, plays with toys, and can be delightfully goofy at times. She is empathetic, submissive, and gets asking with all animals she's met.

She desperately wants to be a real dog, not just a caged breeder, but healing trauma is a slow process.

Whoever adopts her needs to be very patient, willing to allow her to improve at her own pace, happy to celebrate even small and gradual progress, and should absolutely have other dogs (she likes cats too). She trusts men more easily than women.

This is not the dog most people are looking for, but some really special person is going to love this dog enough to put in the work, and will end up with a best furry friend. Until then, she is safe and loved at our rescue.
